Imperial halflings wip 7

Finishing stretch...

Does anyone have a quick and easy way of doing grassy bases or a link to one? I am lazy, but I have grass and glue.

Proud to announce that I won again and have yet to concede a touchdown. Two wins out of two? Maybe I should paint all my teams...

Imperial halflings wip 6

After some tedious highlights and armour washing, I have managed to get the little ones in decent shape for a game tomorrow night. Clinging to first place in the league, if fate would have it...

Left to do: hair, eyes, food, trim on the legs, fancy helmets... I think that is it.

Imperial halflings wip 5

It may not be easy to see in this light, but... more progress... Blue highlights. Took a while, but I am pretty pleased with it.

Still not sure if the loincloths need an orange trim. I think they do.

Imperial halflings wip 4

Yes, I work slow... But I stopped to have dinner too. The subject considered, that seems appropriate.

Shades on the leather and skin touched up. May need a little highlight.

Tomorrow I think I will work over the iron again and possibly highlight the blue.

Doing the treemen last, so no pics of that.

Wtf is number five holding? Wine? Lucky bugger...

Imperial halflings wip 3

Shading the blue with some quick and easy washing. I am... almost pleased with blue. Touching it up with a pale highlight, working the skin over with the base again,  highlighting armour, gloves and pouches and doing the random details like food and ornaments...

3-0 in their debut has fuelled my enthusiasm.

Imperial halflings wip 2

It is not easy to tell in this picture, but the armour is all baselayered now with pig iron.

Treeman looks all gnarly and mean. I need to remember to make a counter for him.

Imperial halflings wip

Season opener looms ahead on Friday, and I am getting my little ones ready.

So far they've got a blue base coat, and they look a bit like smurfs. The colour will be much paler though, or thats the plan, and there will be no white left.

Treeman? Mighty pleased with him at this stage.

Treeman IV

Last of this bunch. Same style and feel to the last three, and I am quite happy with all of them. If I had to choose a favourite, I would probably pick this guy.

Better make some counters. He won't lie down nicely. None of them will.

Treeman III

Another treeman ready, and it looks like the team has the two enforcers that it will no doubt desperately need.

I am somewhat frustrated with treeman hands. Some have claws much like... No tree that I know of. Others have pathetic looking thin branches. This is okay on the excellent gw dryads, but they are much smaller and not picking up any halflings. Then there are the hands with a wood effect that I have here... I am not sure I like them, but the only alternative I have considered is a four finger or three finger version with more log-like fingers. Thoughts?

Treemen that are too humanoid, too manly if you will, are naf. I like mine as animated trees with a hint of sinister menace. The grandfatherly bearded ones... ugh.

A third of these similar ones is done... Well his arm fell off, so nearly done.
