Nurgle team - The coach

Throwing a coach and a turn-marker (or assistant) in with the team, and keeping the work simple.

Buzz Blightyear, bugging you with his coaching skillzzzz?

The scale is somewhat strange here. The fly face, ie the only conversion bit, fits rather well, replacing an uninspired human face, but the guy is easily 32 mm scale, probably more. So yes, he is made of spares, but treated well, so that he is a cute demon type to fit the rotten team.

Nurgle team - a revamped old team

Normally this blog is aimed at being an inspiration, but hopefully not in the sense that people see things and think they could do an awful lot better...

You would be forgiven for thinking that this time though. These are by and large the GW nurgle team with its curious mix of pretty awesome rotters, atrociously bad pestigors - so clearly made with hardly any extra effort after the chaos team got beastmen - and the warriors of nurgle who were the exact same as the chaos team warriors. Strangely, they seem to be getting expensive these days... However, some six years ago I could no more resist the urge to tinker than I can now, and all the players are therefore unique, and heads were swapped and other minor tweaks made. One rotter is completely new, a heavily converted thrower with three arms who does stand out a little, but gets to stay. However, the warriors needed replacing, as did the BoN. The bases needed work.

Why? These were all dipped. I like several products from Army Painter, to be honest, and dipping does what it promises, more or less. Some colours and some minis work better than others. Is it cheating? Yes, of course. Who reads a blog full of dipping? I was in a hurry back then and experimenting.

Here is what it does. The minis I did to complete the team were done in a similar way to the rest, though I did brush on the dip, rather than dunk and shake as you are supposed to, and which I did with the rest.

Bases got the Vallejo dark earth and a tuft of grass each. Minis got base coats and Strong Tone dip, followed by anti-shine. Done.

Beast of Nurgle

Surely Chaos rules this blog. For no apparent reason we take a break from the Chaos Pact which was taking shape to get this more or less awful froggy beast of Nurgle finished. Finished in a single evening, actually. Well, I sculpted his pad yesterday.

This slimey demon beastie is of course non-GW, untouched apart from his pad, and finished quickly with washes, dry brushing and that sort of trickery.

Why the rush? I have an old GW nurgle team that I am sending out on loan. It needed a beast, new warriors and some base work. Here is the beast, done a little bit better than the rest of the team, but still matching them.

Comments welcome, as always.

No, it is not a scary beast. I know.

Chaos pact wip - troll and elf

Alright, so I did make this troll a while back and merely fixed him up some for action this time around. He is... made up of parts from a host of companies and is both metal and plastic, but obviously quite a runner.

I am not actually sure that I will be using him, as I have another idea that I may pursue instead, but here he is...

...with his 'friend' the dark elf who is in an awkward stage of painting. This one is barely converted, I mainly just hacked off some details that did not work for me. You can see hints of the colour scheme to be here already.

Chaos pact - an ogre joins the party

Toothy, clawy, lean and mean. Well, leaner than later ogres in the GW-world, but with a beer belly.

Heavily converted, he is part rat ogre, part ogryn, a Meiko-pad, green stuff belly and strap, head swapped...

Comments welcome for all of these.

Chaos Pact - early WIP

The next season in the league offers me the chance to play around with my assortment of bits and random ideas as I am set to field a chaos pact. Needless to say, it will be creatively put together and quite different.

We start in the milder end of the spectrum with a somewhat leggy and large converted skaven (pad, strap, weapon removed and repositioning) as well as the team goblin. I believe he was born a gretchin, and he too has been disarmed and wrangled a bit and gotten a shoulder pad and strap.

All players are assembled and in a stage of painting at this point, so stay tuned.
