Nurgle team - a revamped old team

Normally this blog is aimed at being an inspiration, but hopefully not in the sense that people see things and think they could do an awful lot better...

You would be forgiven for thinking that this time though. These are by and large the GW nurgle team with its curious mix of pretty awesome rotters, atrociously bad pestigors - so clearly made with hardly any extra effort after the chaos team got beastmen - and the warriors of nurgle who were the exact same as the chaos team warriors. Strangely, they seem to be getting expensive these days... However, some six years ago I could no more resist the urge to tinker than I can now, and all the players are therefore unique, and heads were swapped and other minor tweaks made. One rotter is completely new, a heavily converted thrower with three arms who does stand out a little, but gets to stay. However, the warriors needed replacing, as did the BoN. The bases needed work.

Why? These were all dipped. I like several products from Army Painter, to be honest, and dipping does what it promises, more or less. Some colours and some minis work better than others. Is it cheating? Yes, of course. Who reads a blog full of dipping? I was in a hurry back then and experimenting.

Here is what it does. The minis I did to complete the team were done in a similar way to the rest, though I did brush on the dip, rather than dunk and shake as you are supposed to, and which I did with the rest.

Bases got the Vallejo dark earth and a tuft of grass each. Minis got base coats and Strong Tone dip, followed by anti-shine. Done.

Primed and rotten

This is the awful phase that often follows the phase of loathing and dissatisfaction... the phase where the minis have grown on me and I start thinking I might sell some other nurgle minis instead. Alas, it is not to be, but I must say I am pleased with them.

Learning still, but does Nurgle not reward those who endure, and like I said earlier today, some boils or a bad rash can cover a lot.

Rotters return

Last three done.

Went for the easy choice and used some plaguebearer heads to make them proper nurgley.

One leg swap, one tricky weapon snip, two head swaps, one hand swap... There is still greenstuffing to be done, but not far to go!

I am VERY pleased with the third one.

Rotters are gonna rot

Four out of the required seven to make it to a full team of 16 players.

Two have marauder legs, one had his hooves cut and replaced, and one is barely touched at all. Mostly legwork on these, but one got an arm. They need green stuff, some more than others, but they are getting there!

Nurgle team VIII

Last bunch of rotters. Meet the feebles. Or rather, meet these optimists, catchers you might call them and laugh a bit.

Maybe it was not exactly need that made me give them this pose, but it IS pretty good for football.

Nurgle team VII

Two more rotters. These are a bit less dynamic, but hey, if you were sick and your stat line was average... one has bigger arms, hoping to ST up one day, perhaps.

Nurgle team VI

I actually like the gw rotters, but nevertheless I have still made my own.

I see rotters as sick humans, so I tried to keep them at that size. Also my warriors are not huge, and it looks silly if the rotters are bigger.
