Fanzone: Scout

An ogre talent scout with an eye out for talented youngsters as well as junk food.

I wanted to catch that contrast between drab colours and gaudy that certain types of people seem to enjoy, but admittedly the character changed a few times as I was painting him.

He is a converted, of course. Originally he was a strange 35 mm or so human who looked like that guy from NYPD Blue. Sipowicz? Anyway, off with his head, and on with a GW ogre head. Collar is green stuffed.

Throw a rock!

Say you're an ogre, clad in the furs of beasts that you have clubbed to death, because you're MORE ogre than those pansies with the gut plates and the gnobblars to do their cooking and cleaning, and say you're an ogre who pays the gold he's taken off foolhardy travellers and those idiots who come looking for foolhardy travellers who are missing to see his favourite ogre team play... Now, when those boys fuck up, and they always do, then wouldn't you pick up that big stone, the one you took off the rat-snacks before you made kebabs out of them, and throw it at someone?

Get in mah belly!

These guys eat because they are unhappy, and they're unhappy because they eat...

So yes, I know some folks hate these GW ogres, but I like their grumpy faces. Sure, they are a bit static in their poses, but that is awfully practical, so... I sculpted the helmets and decided against the face masks that I had originally thought to put on. I don't think they would benefit from those.

With snotlings already done, that is another team all done and ready to rumble.

Snot for the snot god!

Snotlings... well, actually these are gnobblars, but their stat line is obviously that of the most infamous cannon-fodder of all, the lowly snotling.

These are a mix of bodies, all with GW plastic heads. Most bodies are from Four A miniatures, but I think there are four who are not.

Ogres are on their way.

Wtf? Nurgle? Little chaos ogre?

While I was busy with some green stuffed helmets - more on that quite soon - I fiddled with an arse-ugly rat ogre - more on that quite soon - and this random cyclops here.

Quite a cool customer, but oddly sized. You might call him ST 4. He is bigger than your average guy, but not a very impressive big guy.

What do I do with him?

Chaos Pact - ogre

Last player! Team is done now, and the last player is of course the ogre.

The ogre, like all the others, is of course not your average ogre. He is heavily converted and part rat-ogre, green stuff and does in fact not contain any conventional blood bowl or ogre bits.

Perhaps my only regret is that the ogre does not quite match the slightly more tribal and savage look that the marauders and other two biggies have. On the other hand, the goblin, skaven and dark elf are not savage, so...

Chaos pact - an ogre joins the party

Toothy, clawy, lean and mean. Well, leaner than later ogres in the GW-world, but with a beer belly.

Heavily converted, he is part rat ogre, part ogryn, a Meiko-pad, green stuff belly and strap, head swapped...

Comments welcome for all of these.

Ogre

This ogre is intended for the human team I did ages ago. He took his time, as my fovus switched to other projects, but I am quite pleased with him now.

He is rather minimally converted, but apparently a gladiator is almost a bb-player anyway. It is not THE nicest sculpt, particularly not the legs, and he rather lacks detail. He is a nice, slim type though, with a good mean face.

WIP teaser: Chaos ogre

Continuing the flippant cutting and gluing with more or less random bits, I am still trying to push boundaries so that all big guys do not seem so dreadfully similar...

1. Ogre. Bald Vinny Jones-type, bodybuilder.

2. Troll. Gangly fellow, orangutang arms and Muppet-face. Often looks sad for some reason. Are trolls depressed by nature?

3. Minotaur. Massive torso/shoulder. Face can be like basically any animal, but it must have horns. Tends to have hooves, not feet these days.

Well, so I am deconstructing these slightly and incorporating random mutations (that no sensible coach might pick), as I figure the gods are fickle and have a weird idea of the word 'gift'...

Without further ado, a bearded ogre with very long legs. WIP.
